KONRAD BUNCH SELECTION RIESLING 2011
VITICULTURE The ripest bunches are selectively hand picked in small
batches from the family owned Waihopai Valley site. Soil in the vineyard is of stony silt with
loam topsoil and free draining. Canopy Management is vertical shoot positioning with shoot and
crop thinning.
WINEMAKING This wine is a result of meticulous attention to detail in
the vineyard whereby only the ripest bunches were hand selected, gently whole bunch pressed and
then stop fermented where the sweetness balances the laser like acidity. With careful cellaring
this wine will reward those patient enough to wait a few years.
TASTING NOTES A brilliant, very pale straw green colour. The nose is very pure showing
classic citrus blossom, ripe red apple & limes with very delicate white flower aromatics
underpinned by subtle mineral notes. The palate is precisely balanced between very pure Riesling
fruit and refreshing juicy acidity. Intensely flavoured showing similar characteristics to the
nose but a wonderfully mouth filling sensation from very high extract fruit.
A well structured Riesling drinking nicely while young, but with sufficient concentration to warrant cellaring for up to 10 years.
This wine is made in a deliberately low alcohol style and is perfect for Asian cuisine, or spicy
seafood dishes, especially at lunchtime, under a tree on a sunny Sunday afternoon. Enjoy.
